Korean Beauty Trend: Overnight Face Masks, Sleeping Masks, Sleeping Packs

As we shared last week, Korea is the unofficial skin care capital of the world! Many of the skincare and beauty trends you’ll read about online or see on TV originate in Korea and make their way to the U.S. One of the biggest crazes being talked about in the past few months is overnight face masks aka sleep masks or sleep packs.

What Does An Overnight Mask Do For Your Skin?

The purpose of these face masks is to give your skin nourishment while you sleep. Why during the night? Two words: beauty sleep! While you’re in dream land, your skin is regenerating, making this a prime time for skin to repair and give the actives in the mask a chance to deeply penetrate into your skin.  Also, during sleep, your skin is not exposed to environmental factors such as pollution or free radicals, making it the best time to introduce beneficial ingredients without the interference of such elements. And, if a long work week or late nights have you deprived of your much needed 7-8 hours of sleep, an overnight mask can do the trick of fooling your co-workers and family that you’ve been sleeping like a baby!

Why To Use An Overnight Mask Now?

We are now just coming out of the winter season, a time of year when skin is often at its worst----dry and dehydrated.  Now is the perfect time to rejuvenate for spring by following this beauty trend and incorporating an overnight treatment into your beauty routine! Dry or dehydrated skin, remember, may not be a new or exotic conditions, but if not treated it can be the culprit of what’s causing older looking skin and fine lines and wrinkles to develop. As you may be experiencing firsthand, the symptoms of rough patches, flakes, tightness, and even itching, redness and stinging, are also both unpleasant and uncomfortable.

Which Overnight Mask To Use?

We like to think we’ve been ahead of this Korean beauty trend, as we understood this concept four years ago when we created our Hydra Dew Illuminating Cream Mask! This was designed as an overnight mask that provides an intensive, deep nourishing treatment while you sleep. Of course, we’ve always been advocates of using natural ingredients to help do the trick. Codium fragile seaweed, Shea Butter, Mango Butter, Water Lily, and Sunflower Seed Oil are the ingredients used to nourish, protect, and hydrate your skin to help prevent symptoms of dry skin and slow down the aging process!
