Customizing Your Combination Skin Routine

Hello everyone! Today I want to share some tips for combination skin. As you’ve seen in our post Skin Profiles: Combination Skin, combination skin is characterized by oily skin in the T-Zone area (your forehead, nose, and chin) with dryness on your cheeks. Our T-Zone collection is designed specifically for combination skin.

The first step is choosing a proper cleanser, such as our T-Zone® Balance Cleansing Complex. It is a light milky cleanser that will gently remove make up and will not clog the pores. It is so lightweight, milky, fresh, non-comedogenic and absolutely fantastic. For those who prefer a soap-like feel when it comes to washing your face, our Hydra Refine® Cleansing Mousse is also an option. This is a foaming, soap-free face wash that cleanses deep down, leaving your skin silky-smooth. It is very lightweight, mousse like consistent.

It is also important to follow up with an appropriate toner. Do not skip this step! Toners are essential to rebalance your skin’s PH.  Use a toner for combination skin, like our T-Zone® Balance Toning Complex made with St. John’s Wort to calm and balance combination skin, and a special blend of Green and White Teas to help prevent free radical damage. This will help to purify the skin, and should be used every morning and evening after using your cleaner. If your skin is more on the oily side, our Hydra Refine® Astringent is perfect and is made with ingredients like oil controlling marine seaweed, astringent lemongrass, and fresh cucumber. I like to use the T-Zone Toner for the morning and the Hydra Refine Astringent for the evening since it is more powerful and is great to purify skin after wearing makeup all day.

For combination skin, our lightweight, pore-perfecting T-Zone®  Shine Control Serum can also be used to help eliminate any unwanted shine. If your cheeks are extra dry, you may want to stick to using this in the T-Zone area only. Otherwise, you can use it all over! Use it in the morning as your make up primer, and even throw it in your purse to do spot treatments throughout the day on areas that tend to get oily.
