How to Care for the Skin Below Your Neck
December 23, 2016

When it comes to skin care, we all understand how important it is to take care of our face. For some reason though, the same emphasis isn’t put on our body, especially when there are sweaters and pants to hide it all in the colder months! Your face is one of the first places to show signs of maturity, but it’s not the only place to reveal your age – your legs, neck, and décolleté can too! So what can you do now that the holidays are here and you’re ready to put on your party dresses that reveal it all? We’re sharing our tips on how to care for the skin below your neck.

Your Neck and Décolleté

If you’ll be taking off those turtle necks and showing some serious collar bone this holiday season, take note! The neck and décolleté are two areas that many people consider part of the body, although in actuality, they should be treated like the face.  Morning and night don’t neglect your neck and décolleté – bring your facial moisturizer down to these areas too. A delicate scrub made with peppermint oil is both invigorating and awakening for the winter, and can be used on the décolleté two times a week to help get rid of any excess dead skin cells. Follow these tips during the winter (and all year long) and you’ll notice a neck and décolleté that is soft, smooth, and ready to be revealed!

Your Legs and Body

Nothing feels and looks worse than dry, flaky and itchy legs during the cold months. And if you’ve been hiding them with your leggings, jeans and sweatpants what do you do when the holidays sneak up on you? Start by using a dry brush. Dry brushing can help prevent ingrown hairs prior to shaving or waxing, and help exfoliate dead skin cells to alleviate flakiness. Do this prior to showering, with swift movements that go against the growth pattern of your hair. You can also bring a body brush into the shower to use in conjunction with a body wash (be sure to rinse your brush thoroughly and either hang in the shower or place bristle side up on your counter to dry).  Especially if you haven’t had time to schedule your wax appointment, brushing is a great prep for shaving your legs in the shower. And after you’ve come out, – don’t forget the most important step–moisturizing all-over. Thoroughly apply a rich body oil or body soufflé with a vanilla and rooibos aroma for skin that is soft, smooth, and smells delicious on your arms, legs, feet, and all-over your body.   You’ll be glistening and glowing all the way into 2017!
