When it comes to skin care, we all understand how important it is to take care of our face. For some reason though, the same emphasis isn’t put on our body, especially when there are sweaters and pants to hide it all in the colder months!
Your face is one of the first places to show signs of maturity, but it’s not the only place to reveal your age – your legs, neck, and décolleté all show signs of aging too. We’re sharing our tips on how to care for the skin below your neck.
Your Neck and Décolleté
The neck and décolleté are two areas that many people consider part of the body, although in actuality, they should be treated like the face.
1. Use a moisturizer: Morning and night don’t neglect your neck and décolleté – bring your face moisturizer down to these areas too.
2. Use a delicate body scrub: A delicate body scrub, such as a matcha scrub, chocolate scrub or sea salt scrub can be used on the décolleté two times a week. This will help get rid of any excess dead skin cells and leave skin smooth and youthful-looking.
Your Legs and Body
Nothing feels and looks worse than dry, flaky and itchy legs during the cold months. And if you’ve been hiding them with your leggings, jeans and sweatpants what do you do when spring sneaks up on you?
1. Dry brush: Using a dry brush on your legs and body has two major benefits. Dry brushing exfoliates dead skin cells to alleviate flaky skin and legs, and also can help prevent the appearance of ingrown hairs when done prior to shaving or waxing.
Dry brush prior to showering, with swift movements that go against the growth pattern of your hair, or use it in shower shower in conjunction with a body body wash (Be sure to rinse your brush thoroughly and either hang in the shower or place bristle side up on your counter to dry).
2. Use a body oil or body creme: Whenever you come out of the shower or bath, always moisturize from head to toe. Thoroughly apply a body oil or rich body cremé with a vanilla and rooibos aroma on your arms, legs, feet, and all-over your body for skin that is soft, smooth, and smells delicious.
